Security Awareness Agent is a professional trained with a
background in the following fields: NLP, detection of deceptive behavior combined with
law enforcement interview /interrogation training, criminal behavior profiling,
general sensitivity for warning signs in: antisocial extreme ideologies and
psychology, anti-social cultural extreme cultural affinities, anti-social
extreme
introversion, plus: Public speaking training, tolerant work environment-
training, and cooperation
with other professions: guidance, psychologists, law enforcement, lecturing
about historical perspectives on security risks, work place violence and harassment, sexual or
otherwise.
Why are they needed? The Oklahoma City,
Columbine, Virginia Tech and the shoe bomber perpetrators all showed warning
signs by having more watchful people it increases the chances
warning signs are picked up and acted upon. Further, as the amount of
potentially dangerous individuals increases the amount of sensitivity to them in
the general population should increase. The Agent’s goal is to make the common
community member, more knowledgeable, skilled
and directed at spotting danger.
How does the C-SAA work? The C-SAA works
by making appearances at classrooms and
companies and giving them basic facts on what type of signs are shown by people
with
dangerous extreme ideologies, anti-social personalities, and politically hostile
intentions. Then we discuss how to use the resources of law enforcement to
follow-up on these signs. We also give tips on diffusing a potentially dangerous
introvert before he gets too dangerous. Still, we emphasize, foster a culture of
psychological well being, but leave real psychological cases to the
psychologist. NLP analysis and the types of questions that could divulge
extremist attitudes are presented. For guidance departments and such the NLP
would be more involved.
How does one become a C-SAA? The American
Association For Higher Education... will
present a 45 hour certification course for $1,000- $1,500.00 which will include
a one month field internship. Certified by The National Board of Professional
and Ethical Standards whether you want to be an C-SAA or not, the training is
good because it heightens your awareness as a citizen.
What isn’t a C-SAA?: Certified Security
Awareness Agent? He is not a psychologist and he is not law enforcement. He
would be called to give a talk and make your community more educated and
sensitive. He should not be called to assess specific cases. He should not be
called to investigate incidents. That is the job of law enforcement. That is the
job of psychologists.
How many Agents are there? The goal of the
pioneer group is 1,000 within the US. However, ideally we’d like to raise funds
for one per each 20 of the nation’s 70,000 school districts or 3,500
agents in the US.
Who promotes the services of the C-SAA? To
promote the services of the C-SAA, The American
Association For Higher Education
raises funds that go to promote their engagements and schools and large
companies. The goal is to have the C-SAA make presentations to as many large
assembly organizations as possible.
How does one reach them? At the general
switchboard
How
many levels of Agents are there? There are
4 separate and distinct levels of Agents:
Associate Agent (Is an Agent in training)
Agent (A
graduate who can conduct sessions)
Special Agent (This level is a training and field agent) To attain this level
one must take and pass
a Psychology 101 course, a law enforcement / profiling course and an NLP course. Cost
estimated to be $3,000 USD.
Agent in
Charge (This agent covers, and is directly responsible for an entire state of
agents) This
person must possess a Doctorate level degree from an approved school approved by
NBPES and
be a member in good standing of AAHEA
Who does a Security Awareness Agent service?
Schools, companies, apartment complexes, social organizations, youth
directors, guidance departments, neighborhood watch groups as well as law
enforcement. And any other group or individual interested in their safety or
prevention of crime losses.
What does the Agent do?
His or her job is to give classes to large groups of people about fostering
a culture of awareness of security risks and how to be conscious of them. The
Agent is to security what anti-smoking campaigns were to lung cancer. The Agent
is not trying to cure or treat, but rather heighten awareness so the community
will sensitize and prevent.
What is the ultimate goal of the C-SAA
profession?
Just like campaigns against smoking, drunk-driving, and other dangers made
an impact, a well-trained population in analyzing security risk issues can make
an impact.

Is there a way to measure the success of the
CSAA?
Since we don’t treat dangerous individuals or field specific cases it’s hard
to immediately measure our effectiveness. However, we feel that over time the
educated cautious population who receives our orientation will foster a culture
that discourages radical extremist activity in its midst.
How does the average person get involved?
This will be available to “Susie Homemaker” at seminars nationally at a fee of
around $99.00 to do an overview and get people aware and some will sign up to
become agents as well. This will be done by an Agent or a Director, call for
times
and dates.
