Home Schooling Parent-Teacher Certification
We at AAHEA are once again on the cutting edge, as we are backing a program that we think will revolutionize home schooling. Did you know there is more than two million children being home schooled right now in the US? Did you know another 210,000 more are added each year to home schooling? Does anyone know the quality of the education the parent is teaching? Do you know if they can in fact teach at all?
Who better to promote this then AAHEA with its 140 year impeccable reputation in education behind it?
Home schooling is very big and increasing by 7% a year. The parents of home schooled children have NO formal certification or training and it makes it very hard for colleges and school systems to accept their children. Its unfair and a big disadvantage for sure. This will be a 6 month certification program for parents with a one week mandatory in class training, testing and board review. With this program there will be no question as to the teaching ability and the education received.
There will be two levels
Level one: if you have an associates degree or higher you can be a "Board Certified Parent Teacher" and this will include transcripts of their students once all material is provided to the board to review and grade, once the student is done with all training. It will include a 6 month course and one week of in class training, labs, testing and final board review where the parent must be present to sit for the board. The parent/teacher must renew cue's each year and provide course curriculum to us to evaluate and we will then provide transcripts that can be used to enter college.
Level two: Will be a program for any level of parent education and it will be a Practitioner level or entry level and will include a one week in class training and testing with 8 months total training and final board review, where the parent must be present to sit for the board.
This parent/ teacher certification program, as news reports show, (CBS news 9/14/08) have pointed out, is coming and its going to be mandatory in every state someday soon. No parent wants to give their kids a disadvantage when looking for a college. What parent would not want to be certified as a Parent /Teacher?
These two classes will a have a professor to oversee the education who holds a doctorate in education (Ed. D.) to review and to approve each parent, along with a board of review. These courses/classes would eventually be accepted by every state and become mandatory in the U.S.
